INEC sets up panel to investigate leaked audio tape


Abuja - The Independent National Electoral Commission has begun investigation into a leaked audio tape allegedly involving the Governor of Rivers State, Nyesom Wike, and some officials of the commission.
INEC chairman, Prof. Mahmood Yakubu has set up a four-man committee to carry out a comprehensive investigation on the activities of the commission’s officials during the rerun.
The committee  according to Punch was reportedly established after a meeting by the leadership of the commission on Tuesday.
Deputy Director in charge of Voter Education and Publicity, Nick Dazang confirmed that a four-man has been set up.

He said that the committee was entrusted with the responsibility of identifying those who conducted themselves well and those whose acts violated the rules of the commission.
He said those found guilty by the committee will be sanctioned.
