EFCC arrests former Imo state governor

– The EFCC has arrested a former governor
of Imo state, Achike Udenwa

– He is accused of receiving N350million
which had been diverted from Goodluck
Jonathan’s presidential campaign in 2015

– He was grilled for several hours and he
reportedly agreed receiving the money

– The former governor was later released
after he signed a bond to repay the funds

Achike Udenwa, a former governor of Imo
state has been arrested by the Economic
and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).

He was arrested last night, May 3, for
allegedly receiving N350million which had
been diverted from last year’s presidential
campaign of former president,
Goodluck Jonathan, News men
reports.

Udenwa had been listed as one the
beneficiaries of the N3.1billion allegedly
shared by six Peoples Democratic Party
(PDP) chieftains in the build-up to the last
year’s presidential elections.

He was grilled for several hours by
operatives of the anti-graft agency.

According to sources, the former governor
admitted collecting the funds from former
finance minister and the director of finance
of the Goodluck Jonathan campaign
organisation, Esther Nenadi.

Udenwa was later released after signing a
bond to repay the funds to the federal
government within two weeks.

Recall that Nenadi was arrested on
Thursday, April 21, for allegedly receiving the
sum of N2.5billion from the Central bank of
Nigeria (CBN)

She was said to have confessed that former
NSA Sambo Dasuki gave her billions of
Naira, from which she paid several party
officials.

Usman has reportedly returned N23m to the
federal government.
