World football governing body, FIFA has
threatened to ban Egypt from all
international football, including the Gabon
2017 African Nations Cup and the Russia
2018 World Cup qualifiers, following a
pending court case against the country’s
football FA.

According to Supersport.com, FIFA has
officially warned the Egypt Football
Association (EFA) of a ban over court
interference in the country’s football.

In a letter to the Egyptian FA, FIFA stated
that it would be “considered as interference”
if the court case against the country’s
football body is implemented and will leave it
with no option than to consider sanctions.

Part of the letter from FIFA reads: “The
court decision, if implemented, would most
likely be considered as interference in the
internal affairs of the EFA and the case would
be brought to the highest authorities of FIFA
for consideration of sanctions, including the
suspension of the EFA.”

FIFA has threatened to ban Egypt from all
international football, including AFCON 2017
over a court case against the country’s
football FA

In March, the Supreme Administrative Court
in Egypt ordered that the Egyptian FA board
be dissolved following complaints filed by
former candidates in the FA elections, Dr
Magda El Helbawi and Hermas Radwan,
regarding violation of the electoral process
in 2012.

Following this development, reports in Egypt
had suggested that new elections will be
held in September with Tharwat Sweilam,
holding the fort in interim capacity until
fresh polls are held.

However, the Egyptian FA has appealed the
court ruling and there will be a ruling on May
8.

It was learnt that should FIFA banned the
Egyptians from all international competitions,
the Group G ticket in the African Nations
Cup qualifiers would now be a straight
contest between Nigeria and Tanzania. The
fourth team in the group, Chad, withdrew
after the second round of matches.
