Fresh facts have emerged on ow prostitutes
now use point of sale (PoS) machine to
receive cash from their clients.
According to News men, a lady was said to
have brought out the machine when a black
Acura SUV eased to a stop in front of a
notorious high-end strip club on the popular
Allen Avenue in Ikeja, the Lagos state
capital.
The skimpily dressed lady was said to have
approached the vehicle and after a
conversation which ensued between them,
she brought out a PoS machine, and on
sighting this, the man at the wheel slotted in
a MasterCard, punched in a five-digit figure
and zoomed off.
The new system is now called cashless sex
in an incredibly unusual digital revolution
which most people in the metropolis.

Jeff, an old patron of one of the ‘dark spots’
in Lagos attests that payment via PoS has
become the preferred payment mode in high-
end brothels and strip clubs in the state,
saying: “The introduction of PoS is a good
one. Me, naturally don’t go out with raw
cash.”
In fact, one of the ‘cashless’ sex hubs in
Ikotun, a suburb of Lagos carried the bold
inscription on its wall: “PoS Available” an
implication that it was ‘pay before service’.
Findings showed that most of the rooms in
this brothel have PoS points while an extra
one lies at the reception for general use.
Speaking on the latest development, one of
the ‘resident sex workers’, Kassy, who also
manages a beauty saloon and a boutique at
daytime, comes with her private PoS device
to her other ‘office’, and she said: “I have
had issues with men complaining that they
wanted to have fun, but no cash at hand.
But since the introduction of the PoS
machine, once you have your MasterCard,
you are in for fun. Fun unlimited.”
Speaking on the ‘pay before service’ system
which the PoS probably ushered in, the fair-
complexioned prostitute stated: “For me, as
an independent person, it is not always. I have
trusted customers who don’t go about with
raw cash. Once we are done, I will bring out
the machine for him to make the payment,
there’s no big deal. But for some JJC, it is pay
before service to avoid stories that touch.”

In another red light zone in the same area, it
was gathered that the there was only one
PoS terminal for use.
The price ranges from N5000 for quickie,
N15,000 all-night romp. However, if a
customer wants to have a short-time sex, he
has to punch N5,200 (including condom cost
for a short time sex) while the ‘take away’
bargain (leaving the spot with a lady) starts
from about N30,000 upwards.
Priye, another sex worker who spoke with
the Daily Post correspondent, explained that
the management of her hotel cheats them
by taking what she referred to as
‘outrageous commission’ from her hustle.
The lady, a 300-level undergraduate of Delta
State University informed further that before
now, her daily take home package was
about N20,000 but now, she will wait until
the week ends before getting her pay from
the management of the hotel, after rent
deductions.
