Aisha Buhari not controlling Gov Bello - Official

– An official of the Kogi state government
has reacted to claims that the governor is
being controlled by the First Lady

– He described critics of the government as
‘sick’

Kingsley Fanwo, the chief press secretary to
Governor Yahaya Bello of Kogi state has
dismissed claims that his principal is being
controlled by the first lady, Aisha Buhari.

Fanwo noted that allegation of interference
in the affairs of Kogi levelled against the
first lady by some aggrieved members of the
All Progressives Congress (APC) showed
they were out of their senses.

Governor Yahaya Bello of Kogi state

“After their failed attempts at destabilizing the
House of Assembly, they graduated into the
spurious acts of sponsoring vandalization of
government properties. But now, all they hold
on to is to blackmail respected Nigerians
including the First Lady of Nigeria, Mrs. Aisha
Buhari.
“What the opponents of the Alhaji Yahaya
Bello’s administration do not understand is
how the governor has been able to become so
popular among the people as a result of his
system-saving, welfarist policies since
assuming office,” Fanwo said.

He maintained that the staff verification
exercise will open a can of worms that will
shock the entire country adding that moves
by some politicians to frustrate Bello’s
efforts to expose economic saboteurs
masquerading as ghost workers.
He continued: “It will interest the public to
know that the verification committee has
already unearthed many ghost workers. The
Yahaya Bello administration is attaching so
much importance to this in line with his
promise to ensure Kogi resources work for
Kogi people.

“The committee has discovered many ghost
workers who are into other employments in
Kaduna, Lagos and other places and still take
salaries from the coffers of Kogi State
Government. These are the real enemies of the
Kogi people. These are the people who are
making it impossible for our youth population
to secure jobs.

“They are the ones taking away the resources
which would have gone into providing water,
good roads, quality education and healthcare
facilities. As a responsible and responsive
governor, Yahaya Bello has made it a matter of
priority to fish out ghost workers and save
funds for development.

“We know the people behind the media
splurge against the present administration.
They are those who are dazed by the level of
acceptance the Governor is enjoying. They are
those who cannot comprehend why the state
is making waves in the face of the economic
downturn around the nation.
“Roads are going through rehabilitation across
the state and many sectors of the economy are
currently receiving attention. The fairness in
appointments under this administration is
unprecedented,” he added.

He expressed gratitude to President
Muhammadu Buhari for facilitating the
proposed establishment of a refinery in Kogi
state that will turnaround the economy of
the state and the nation at large.
Meanwhile, the House of Representatives
summoned Abubakar Malami, the attorney
general of the federation and Solomon
Arase, the inspector general of police to
appear before its committee on judiciary
over his alleged role in the Kogi House of
Assembly crisis.
