The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC,
has on Tuesday, March 29, released additional five
results of the March 19, 2016 re-run elections in Rivers
State.
The release of the results came barely few hours when the Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike, called on the electoral commission to release outstanding results of
the re-run state and federal elections held on March 19, 2016.
Speaking on Tuesday, when he received a delegation of
the United States and Canada branches of Ogbakor
Ikwerre, at the Government House, Port Harcourt,
Governor Wike said, that the continued delay in the
release of the results breeds unnecessary suspicion and
conflict.
“We believe that INEC should no longer delay the
release of the results. The more they delay, the
more there is suspicion, and the tendency for
crisis,” he said.
Recall, that the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, had
earlier recorded victory in other nine state
constituencies’ results declared by INEC immediately
after the March 19 re-run.
Although, the former Governor of the state and Minister
of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi, had earlier called for
the cancellation of the Rivers State re-run based on
alleged violence and ballot box snatching.
Meanwhile, in a statement signed by the Resident
Electoral Commissioner, REC, Aniedi Ikoiwak, the
electoral umpire said the release of the additional five
results were the outcome of its meeting in Abuja.
While announcing the result, the PDP candidates cleared
the three federal seats, for Port Harcourt Federal

Nsiegbe (PDP) scored 6,968 votes to defeat Collins
Owhondah (APC), who polled 3,154 votes. For Obio/
Akpor Federal Constituency, Kingsley Chinda of the PDP
scored 27,895 votes, while the APC candidate, Anthony
Okocha, got 9,514 votes
.
Furthermore, the candidate of APC, Benibo Anabraba,
clinched the State Constituency seat for Akuku-Toru 2,
he scored 2,970 votes. He defeated the PDP candidate,
Tonye Alalibo, who was disqualified.

2 scored 15,244 votes, to beat Mrs. Irene Inimgba of
APC, who polled 2,844 votes.
Generally, PDP had clinched 13 federal and state seats,
while APC got two seats from the results announced so
far by INEC.
